New Cafeteria Task Force

Based on feedback from parents and faculty, the Parents Association is creating a school-wide survey of the cafeteria service, in cooperation with Upton’s. If you are interested joining a task force to create the survey and analyze the results, please contact Jennifer Holderness by November 6th.

Learning to Live (and function) with Not Knowing

As I walked into an eighth grade math class with the students last week, the teacher was projecting the day’s Challenge Problem on the board. As I took a seat, the students plopped their books on their desks and grabbed personal slates and markers. They sat down and started working on the problem: “If N is the square of an integer, what is the square of the next integer?”

The students began finishing their work within the traditional five-minute time period allotted to answer that day’s iteration of the daily math challenge. I was frozen.

Great Serving Helps Varsity Girls Beat FAIS, 2-0

A great game in which one SFDS player got 19 points in a row off of her great serve.

Boys Varsity Soccer Team Beats Cathedral, 3-1

Great passing and unselfish play helped the Phins varsity soccer team beat longtime rivals, Cathedral.
