Concert for Community was a wonderful experience for me and I was so happy to be a part of it. Although I did not actually perform in the concert, I still felt like a part of the wonderful family that C4C creates. Here is a behind the scenes look at Concert for Community.
We began the journey knowing all the work that we needed to put into the show to make it amazing.. On Thursday, February 25, we headed from school, directly to the gym where we began a tedious, but fun, tech rehearsal. We finished up about 4:30pm, much earlier than the expected 6:00pm , which gave us all some time to rest for show day! The feeling of excitement in the air was overwhelmingly calming.
Friday we got to leave for the last two periods of Friday, at 1:15. We started off with running over the show and editing a couple acts. Then we ran straight into a dress rehearsal. There was such a joyful feel in the room that nobody minded sitting through 23 acts, not to mention, the music was great! We got a ton of breaks and Mr. Herrick was pretty easygoing about everything, which made it so much the whole experience more enjoyable. We all got to share each other’s excitement, and I knew that we were all in it together. We had a delicious dinner of pizza, salad and brownies. As we waited for people to file in the auditorium, we convened one last time before the show. As a Concert for Community tradition, we did the polka dance as a way to calm our nerves. After that, it was show time!
Everything went super smoothly and the crowd seemed extremely pleasedwith all the performances. I was so happy to once again be a part of this experience and I look forward to being a part of it next year. Thank you so much, Mr. Herrick, The Hormel’s, and Mr.Roberts for putting on this spectacular concert.
