Congrats to seventh grader Zan, for advancing to the Geo Bee State Finals! Over 2000 schools from Yreka to Calexico compete, and only the top 100 students (out of hundreds of thousands) in California advance to the state level.

Congratulations to SFDS 7th grade bell ringers, the Clemenchimes, for awesome ringing at the Bay Area Spring Ring Festival, an all-day handbell celebration. On March 24, over 250 ringers from all over the Bay Area came together and practiced music under the baton of visiting conductor, Deborah Carr.

Five students from SFDS were recently selected for the national OAKE Honor Choir that takes place annually at the Kodaly educators conference. This year, these students, their parents and all three music teachers (Nancy Linford, Jane Rinard and Susan Sonnemaker) traveled to Phoenix, AZ for this event.

After a couple of days of research and creating questions, the 7th grade filled the library for a battle between advisories. Each team had an opportunity to answer questions about African-American women in the categories of art, entertainment, literature, politics, and science. Test your own knowledge and continue to celebrate Black History all year long!
