By the time students reach their final year at San Francisco Day School, they have been exposed to a wide range of community service-oriented experiences. They have served food at Glide Church, planted seedlings in the Presidio and swapped stories with seniors at Canon Kip Senior Center. In eighth grade, students have the unique opportunity to take their service learning to another level – by immersing themselves in a week-long program designed to provide service with and not just for communities outside of our own.

Check out our students on “Decades Day!” For this special day in Spirit Week, students were asked to dress according to their grade’s decade – for example, 8th graders dress in 80’s gear, 7th graders rocked the 70’s look, etc.

The SFDS technology department recently hosted two meetings to address parental concerns surrounding children and their consumption of technology. These meetings were designed to create an open forum for families to share anecdotes, ask questions, and debunk student-driven myths, such as “everyone else in my class has an iPhone!”
