The volleyball team is off to a strong and solid start with over 50 players in grades 5-8th. The Varsity and JV opened their season with wins v. MCDS and the 6th and 5th grade teams opened their season with great volleys and team play against both MCDS and Hamlin. The gym is full of action and lots of excellent practice and playing time. Last week the Varsity put up a fight against Head-Royce and lost a close game in 3. The level of play was extraordinary with blocks, kills and solid defense. The league looks strong and I know we will only get better as the season progresses. This week we have two matches versus Hamlin and Brandeis with the 6th grade going up against Burke. Go PHINS!

It was a great win. The varsity girls took on the undefeated MCDS and beat them 3-2 in a tense, exciting game.

It was a tense moment in the match: the score was 23 -23 and Coach O’Brien called a needed timeout to settle down the team, refocus them, and remind them to make a good pass, set it up, and hit it─just as the team had been doing the entire match. It was quiet in the huddle when the normally quiet Sam S. stepped forward.

The girls Junior Varsity basketball team beat Marin Country Day in the final championship game on Wednesday Feb 3. They played a solid game from start to finish winning 25-19.
