Kindergartners Help Out at NOPNA Neighborhood Cleanup!

On Saturday, November 12th, several students and families from the SFDS kindergarten class pitched in to help keep our neighborhood clean.  The weather was great and everyone had a chance to get to know each other while looking after our local park.  On this particular occasion, volunteers spread a blanket of compost and mulch by the “four corners” eucalyptus trees just east of Masonic, which will keep the trees comfortable during the winter months.

The NOPNA Neighborhood Cleanup is a wonderful opportunity to become more involved in the community.  This is the second year that SFDS has focused on partnering with Panhandle Park Stewards, led by Dale Danley.  The group meets on the second Saturday of each month, focusing on various areas of the neighborhood parks.  The session is typically from 9:00am-11:00am, beginning with a short educational introduction and ending with a snack for hungry volunteers.

To sign-up and/or find more information on past and future Panhandle Cleanup events, please visit Dale’s blog at http://panhandlepark.blogspot.com/.  To everyone who volunteered their time to beautify our surrounding parks and playgrounds, THANK YOU!
