Quick! Name a ten-letter synonym for “no-good.” Can’t think of one? Dan Feyer can. (Dadblasted).
Dan Feyer, an SFDS alum from Class of ‘91, was recently featured in The New York Times for his crossword-solving prowess. To demonstrate his unique talent, Dan allowed The NY Times to tape him while he solved their Saturday puzzle, which is notorious for being extremely challenging for most people. He completed the puzzle in less than six minutes. Five minutes, 29 seconds, to be exact.
A New York resident, Dan works as a pianist and music director for musical theater productions. His most recent shows include “With Glee,” an Off Broadway production that ran in Manhattan last summer. In addition to excelling at music, he is also strong at math, which he believes strengthens his crossword solving abilities. According to Dan, serious training coupled with “underlying brain power and a head for trivia” is what drives his talent. Whatever it is, it’s working – Dan took first place at the American Crossword Tournament this year, beating five-time winner, Tyler Hinman.
