March Madness for SFDS means “Parent Survey Month”

Survey I:  Strategic Plan 2010 – Envisioning an SFDS Education for the 21st Century

The Community Listening Forums were completed with vigorous and substantive participation by parents, teachers, alumni, trustees, and former trustees.  Participants responded to the three questions with a wide range of ideas that we will be able to summarize and analyze for the next steps in the process.

SDFS has also launched an online opportunity for all those who were unable to attend the Community Listening Forums.  We strongly encourage you to offer your thoughts and ideas through the online Strategic Plan 2010 Discussion Forums.

In early April, SFDS will publish a list of the main themes that were articulated in the Community Listening Forums.

Survey II:        Cafeteria Food Service

A committee of parents has been charged by me to conduct a comprehensive assessment of our Cafeteria Food Service and propose revisions and enhancements to our current program.  The committee is reviewing options for improved nutrition, cost effectiveness, and quality of the eating experience in our cafeteria.  They have visited other schools at lunch time and interviewed providers, students and staff at our peer schools.

The survey – coming soon – is vital for us to gather the experiences and opinions of our community.  This information will be the basis for changes and recommendations that will be forwarded to the administration for implementation!

When the survey comes your way, please take the time to complete it and push the “send” button.

Survey III:      Differentiated Instruction

As an integral part of the commitment to differentiated instruction, we are conducting an evaluation of the program to date.  One part of the evaluation is a parent survey.  The survey has three sections: i) differentiated instruction for all students, ii) the Learning Resource Program, and iii) frequency and extent of private tutoring at SFDS.

Your responses to this survey will help us make changes to improve our commitment to “No Ceiling – No Threshold” for all children at SFDS.

I thank you in advance for your time and good thoughts.  We would not ask parents for their ideas and opinions without a fundamental commitment on our part to read, summarize, and analyze the information, and then use it to make revisions and enhancements to the programs for our children.
