Dear San Francisco Day School Community,
As the admission season comes to an end, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for helping us share our school with the larger San Francisco community. Interview after interview, I have heard how comforting it is to walk through this school and interact with compassionate and warm parents and staff. Our strong sense of community is deeply felt by all who visit.
I especially want to thank the parents, faculty and staff who joined me in hosting applicant families in the lobby reception while their children visited. The overwhelming positive response was heartwarming, and I truly appreciate your support.
I am excited that in two weeks we will be having another reception to welcome our 2011 kindergarten class parents and all of our new families entering in grades 1-8.
Many of you reached out during this admission season with notes regarding applicants. We always welcome emails and appreciate reading our community members’ recommendations. What meant the most to me was that you trusted the process and understood how complex it is to put a class together. I want you to know that every email and letter was read and shared with the admission committee and I feel that we gave every child a close look. We know we cannot offer every applicant a spot, but I hope that we have offered every family what they needed in order to make a well thought out decision on their part.
The hardest part of my job was not being able to respond to every phone call and email sent into the admission office during the decision week. Realistically due to the volume, it was impossible. I quickly realized that directing my attention to reviewing my applicants’ files and their families, some of whom you were writing or calling about, was the best use of my time. I am confident that those who understand the process know that I read every note and listen to every message.
